Whirlwind #10 – August 3-4, 2019 – Theme TBD
Yes, this will make it a cool 10 times (!) for the Fest. Illinois Valley’s 24-Hour Whirlwind Theatre Festival began in 2015, and we haven’t fallen apart yet! Come celebrate our 10th Whirlwind, this time at the Kerby Belt Building, immediately following the mini-writing retreat “Let’s Write!” which is organized by the Southern Oregon Guild of Artists.
WRITERS, PERFORMERS, DIRECTORS, FOOD-MAKERS, CREW gathers Saturday August 3 @6pm. New people are encouraged to try it out. All ages. It’ll be a wild ride, but so far no one has declared, “Well, THIS was a waste of my time.” So we’ve got that going for us.
AUDIENCE comes Sunday August 4 @6pm to watch the show!

WHAT?
A WHIRLWIND PLAY FESTIVAL is a festival in which people (no experience necessary!) come together to create several short plays within 24 hours, culminating in a performance for the community.
Participants meet at 6:00 PM on Friday night for introductions. Then everyone goes home to sleep except the writers, who will stay up late, each writing a 10-minute piece. HOWEVER (and this may be a game changer for you) for this show, we have decided to release the writing prompts a week early for anyone who wishes to write, but does not wish to stay up all night.
ALSO: This is the last chance to write a piece to be included in the first anthology of the Whirlwind Play Festival, which will be published this summer!
SHOWTIME: Directors and performers rehearse the plays all day Saturday. Participants will be provided with simple meals. Please contact us if you would like to help out providing these meals! At 6:00PM Saturday, the plays will be performed in front of a live audience.
